Challenge
As Ukraine’s only national suicide prevention hotline, LifeLine Ukraine plays a critical role in supporting individuals affected by the trauma of war. However, the absence of a user-friendly digital platform limited public awareness and made it harder for Ukrainians in need — especially those in high-risk or frontline areas — to seek help anonymously and discreetly.
Solution
Veedoo developed a secure, mobile-optimised website tailored to vulnerable users. The platform offers anonymous chat-based support, emergency contact tools, and curated mental health resources. The design was guided by trauma-informed UX principles, including calming visuals, intuitive navigation, and a quick-exit feature for users in unsafe environments. All features were developed in line with GDPR standards to ensure user safety and data protection. Veedoo also developed a free online suicide awareness training course for the website.
Impact
Veedoo played a pivotal role in establishing LifeLine Ukraine’s brand and digital presence, enabling it to reach more people in need during the war. Today, more than 1,500 people use the platform’s chat feature each month, providing Ukrainians — including refugees who are unable to call the hotline number from abroad — with easy and safe access to lifesaving mental health support.
